About The Position

KUNM's mission is to inform, entertain, and engage New Mexicans with trusted journalism, exceptional music and vibrant cultural content. An affiliate of NPR, Native Voice One, American Public Media and Pacifica serving Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Northern Rio Grand Valley, KUNM reaches approximately 85,000 listeners each week in communities throughout central and northern New Mexico, and is recognized for its growing digital and social media audience engagement. A staff of 25 professionals and 80 volunteers report and produce award-winning news, public affairs and entertainment content for a diverse and engaged audience that trusts KUNM and values it as essential. An Auxiliary Unit of the University of New Mexico for 60 years, the station serves as a “front-porch” for New Mexico’s flagship institution of higher learning and research. This position may be eligible for a hybrid remote work arrangement upon completion of 6-month probationary period, with consideration to the business needs of KUNM. The Role Individual contributions are the largest and most important part of KUNM’s revenue model. Individuals who contribute to KUNM are considered “members" of the station. Reporting to the Director of Development and overseeing a team of two full-time data and membership specialists, the Manager, Membership Services stewards and grows membership revenue of a major market public broadcasting station by developing and overseeing the implementation of, and/or participates in, a variety of fundraising initiatives targeting individual donors. The Manager, Membership Services plans, develops, implements, and manages all membership services activities for KUNM using a range of marketing media and techniques aligned with industry best practices. You will also participate in the development and implementation of long-range fundraising strategies and programs. Finally, you will partner with colleagues in the Audience Department to ensure organizational strategies in on-air, digital fundraising and community engagement are coordinated and effective. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven success in communications, nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit fundraising, membership, annual giving, or development, with demonstrated success managing individual giving programs and achieving revenue growth.
  • Experience supervising and developing staff, including setting performance expectations, coaching employees, managing workflows, and fostering a collaborative, donor-centered culture.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising strategy and donor lifecycle management, including acquisition, retention, reactivation, stewardship, and donor upgrade strategies.
  • Proven experience implementing moves management programs that cultivate, solicit, steward, and upgrade donors through data-informed engagement strategies.
  • Experience developing and implementing annual fundraising plans, revenue projections, budgets, key performance indicators (KPIs), and long-range membership growth strategies.
  • Demonstrated success growing sustaining or recurring giving programs and increasing donor lifetime value through retention, upgrade, and engagement strategies.
  • Experience designing and executing integrated fundraising campaigns across multiple channels, including direct mail, email, text messaging, digital advertising, social media, web, and broadcast fundraising.
  • Strong proficiency with electronic marketing and marketing automation platforms, including audience segmentation, personalized donor journeys, A/B testing, engagement analytics, email marketing, and SMS/text messaging campaigns.
  • Demonstrated ability to use donor, audience, and campaign data to develop targeted segmentation strategies, evaluate fundraising performance, identify trends, and improve revenue and donor retention outcomes.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead multiple concurrent fundraising campaigns, coordinate cross-functional teams, manage vendors, budgets, schedules, and deliver measurable results.
  • Advanced experience using web-based constituent relationship management (CRM) systems to manage donor records, track engagement, analyze performance, automate workflows, and generate reporting for strategic decision-making.
  • Experience with digital fundraising technologies, online giving platforms, payment processing systems, marketing automation tools, CRM integrations, and related fundraising applications.
  • Experience managing fundraising vendors and service providers, including direct mail agencies, telemarketing vendors, digital fundraising platforms, payment processors, database consultants, and email marketing providers.
  • Working knowledge of PCI DSS standards, donor data governance, financial controls, and best practices for protecting constituent and payment information.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships across departments, collaborating with programming, marketing, digital content, audience engagement, and finance teams to advance organizational goals.
  • Experience developing performance dashboards, fundraising reports, and analytical tools that support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling donor-centered fundraising, stewardship, and engagement communications.
  • Demonstrated commitment to public media, public service journalism, community engagement, and the mission-driven values of nonprofit organizations.
  • Experience working in public radio, public television, public media, higher education, cultural institutions, or other mission-driven nonprofit organizations.
  • Familiarity with public media membership fundraising models, including pledge drives, sustaining membership programs, audience engagement strategies, donor stewardship, and membership benefits programs.
  • Knowledge of fundraising and donor management technologies commonly used within public media organizations.
  • Understanding of audience-centered fundraising practices that strengthen listener relationships, support community engagement, and build sustainable philanthropic support for public service journalism.
  • Experience collaborating with editorial, programming, marketing, audience, and business teams to align fundraising initiatives with organizational priorities and audience needs.

Responsibilities
