Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline (B. S.) or equivalent; and at least eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum 4 years of experience in direct management of technical resources is required.
  • Ability to perform complex analysis and deliver a strong technical solution is required.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally within Silfex, customers, and suppliers is required.
  • Ability to analyze and drive process capability based on data analysis and business needs.
  • Ability to prioritize activities for the team and provide a strong technical and business case.
  • Ability to conceptualize and develop new processes to improve performance and meet customer requirements.
  • Demonstrated success improving CNC process capability, yield, and cost in complex manufacturing systems.
  • Experience with standardizing CNC programming, implementing changes to programming methods (NX experience is a plus), and releasing programs from prototype to production release.
  • Strong knowledge of SPC, DOE, MSA, control plans, PFMEA.
  • Experience in high‑mix / low‑to‑medium volume manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence frameworks.
  • Experience leading process transfer, scale‑up, or major change initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including ability to manage through ambiguity.
  • Influence decision making through supporting data, presentation skills, and communication style.
  • Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and globalizing the solution. This applies to both production processes and business processes owned by Engineering department.
  • Project Management - Develops project plans and communicates changes, progress, and risks through the projects.
  • Ability to utilize computer applications such as; PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Manufacturing software (ERP/MES), Database software, and Statistical programs (Minitab/JMP).

Responsibilities

  • Development and management of the Process Engineering Department reporting to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Leading, developing, and executing process engineering strategies that drive process capability, cost reduction, and operational excellence across complex manufacturing processes, focusing on CNC machining, programming, and associated processes.
  • Reducing process variation (Cp/Cpk improvement), lowering cost per unit, improving programming capabilities, and building strong engineering teams through technical leadership, coaching, and structured problem‑solving.
  • Own and continuously improve process capability (Cp/Cpk) across assigned manufacturing processes.
  • Lead root cause analysis for yield loss, excursions, rework, and scrap using statistical and structured problem‑solving methods (SPC, DOE, 8D, DMAIC).
  • Standardize and sustain robust process windows, control plans, and reaction plans.
  • Partner with Quality to define and enforce process controls aligned with customer and internal specifications.
  • Develop and maintain a multiyear CNC programming transformation roadmap.
  • Assess current tools, programming maturity, skill levels, and workflow gaps.
  • Establish Siemens NX as the standard programming platform for multi-site network.
  • Put systems in place to ensure programs are robust, efficient, and production ready.
  • Capture and standardize machining strategy knowledge for reuse.
  • Drive cost per process reduction through cycle time improvement, tooling, & consumable optimization.
  • Partner with Maintenance with preventive maintenance optimization.
  • Lead value stream focused on improvement initiatives targeting scrap, rework, downtime, labor content, and consumables.
  • Quantify savings and present clear business cases for improvement projects.
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for complex manufacturing and process issues.
  • Lead cross functional teams (Operations, Quality, Equipment, Supply Chain) to resolve high impact problems.
  • Guide process development and qualification efforts for new products, new tools, or transferred processes.
  • Ensure engineering decisions are data driven, statistically sound, and risk aware.
  • Develop process engineers’ capability in: Statistical methods (SPC, MSA, DOE), Process characterization and validation, Structured problem solving, Cost modeling and business justification.
  • Coach engineers on how to think, not just what to do—building ownership and decision-making maturity.
  • Establish clear expectations, development plans, and technical skill matrices.
  • Foster a culture of standard work, documentation, and continuous learning.
  • Define and deploy process engineering standards (documentation, reviews, qualification criteria).
  • Follow Silfex procedures for a structured evaluation and implementation of Process changes, New Products/Processes, Recipe/tooling modifications, or supplier changes.
  • Support long term capacity, equipment, and technology roadmaps with data-based recommendations.
  • Manage department budget, prioritization, and critical deliverables of the team to meet the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
  • Display a positive attitude and strong work ethic that reflects the Mission and Core Values of Silfex.
  • Create and maintain a culture where workplace safety is part of everything we do.

  • Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S.
  • Demonstrate ownership of continuous improvement ideas and activities.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness, housekeeping and 5S within work area.
  • Maintain these areas at the highest degree possible while responsibly escalating any maintenance issues.
