About The Position

This role is responsible for driving sustainable, profitable growth of the credit union’s debit card portfolio through effective product strategy, performance management, and cross-functional collaboration. This role leads competitive analysis and the development of the annual debit business plan, partnering closely with Marketing and enterprise channel owners to design and execute targeted growth initiatives throughout the year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in financial services, product management or related discipline, with demonstrated accountability for product performance and growth.
  • Prior experience managing consumer payment products (debit, credit, digital payments, or deposits) strongly preferred.
  • Proven project leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with frontline staff, cross-functional partners, and senior leadership.
  • Advanced analytical and financial acumen, including the ability to perform both quantitative and qualitative analysis to support product strategies, enhancements, and promotional recommendations; proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Strategic, creative, and proactive mindset with strong attention to detail; ability to work independently while maintaining clear, consistent communication with internal teams, external partners, and business line leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Own the strategy and ongoing management of the debit card product, identifying and prioritizing enhancements to features, benefits, and channel capabilities to meet member needs and business objectives.
  • Lead development of the annual Debit Business Plan aligned to organizational growth targets, portfolio performance goals, and member experience objectives.
  • Analyze debit product penetration, usage, and profitability to identify underperforming segments and develop targeted strategies to drive adoption and engagement.
  • Evaluate member segmentation, behaviors, and existing management strategies to inform product decisions and growth initiatives.
  • Identify, size, and prioritize opportunities to drive debit portfolio growth through product enhancements, marketing initiatives, and channel optimization.
  • Conduct financial, operational, and member impact analysis and develop business cases and proposals for product changes or new initiatives; present recommendations to appropriate BCU committees.
  • Manage execution of debit initiatives and campaigns in partnership with appropriate cross-functional teams.
  • Develop and deliver ongoing debit product training and communications to ensure frontline teams are knowledgeable and confident in supporting member inquiries, promotions, and product initiatives.
  • Research and analyze the competitive landscape and industry trends to identify best practices, emerging capabilities, and growth opportunities relevant to BCU.
  • Monitor and review Net Promoter Score (NPS) and other member feedback channels; develop insights, responses, and action plans to improve product experience and satisfaction.
  • Manage external debit vendors and network partners to ensure operational performance, service quality, contract compliance, and successful execution of special projects and enhancements.
  • Provide analytical leadership by defining, collecting, and evaluating key debit performance metrics (KPIs), benchmarks, and ad-hoc reporting to support data-driven decision making.
  • Leverage peer, network, and industry data to benchmark performance and inform strategic recommendations.
  • Prepare and deliver regular (monthly/quarterly) reporting on debit portfolio performance, trends, risks, and growth initiatives for leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Serve as a cross-functional subject matter expert, maintaining a high-level enterprise view while collaborating across the organization.
