About The Position

As a Mfg. Material Handler, you are responsible for putting away received incoming product, collecting finished goods and delivering them to the shipping department, supplying components to the manufacturing production floor, and restocking materials in the supermarket and department lineside racks. The role supports production and distribution by moving, preparing, storing, picking, and distributing materials and finished goods while following safety and environmental procedures.

The position may involve operating trucks, forklifts, cranes, and other powered industrial equipment after completing any required certification. Work takes place in variable industrial conditions that may include temperature changes, noise above 85 decibels, dust, grease, mechanical parts, sharp objects, and heavy machinery. Physical activity includes standing for up to eight hours, lifting 35 pounds, and occasionally pushing or pulling 75 pounds or more. PPE, safety training, and strict adherence to safety precautions are required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience following work instructions.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Basic math skills.
• Experience using hand and power tools.
• Ability to use tow motors, lift-assist equipment, and other warehouse equipment.
• Ability to learn various material-handling functions.
• Results-oriented approach.
• Good vision and hearing to respond to machinery sounds, alarms, and instructions.
• Manual dexterity and ability to perform visual verification.
• Ability to stand for up to eight hours, lift 35 pounds, and occasionally push or pull 75 pounds or more.
• Completion of safety training and strict adherence to safety precautions.

Nice To Haves

• Warehouse or material-handling experience, or related job aptitude such as the ability to troubleshoot and follow instructions.
• Prior experience working in a light industrial facility.

Responsibilities

• Move materials to and from work cells, delivering trucks, storage trucks, and manufacturing areas.
• Fill requisitions or requests for materials and stock items and distribute them to departments.
• Assist with material preparation, including cutting, labeling, unpacking, and preparing raw material according to the job.
• Assess component and material availability and alert the department team leader to potential production outages.
• Prepare and package finished goods for collection.
• Mark materials with identifying information.
• Prepare finished products for shipment by identifying their location, pulling, packing, and unloading them.
• Receive, store, pick, and distribute materials, tools, equipment, and products within distribution centers to complete orders.
• Operate trucks, forklifts, cranes, and other powered industrial equipment as qualified; complete necessary certification.
• Assist production by removing waste, debris, and excess material.
• Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure adherence to environmental management and systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed by supervision, which may include direct labor.
• Read Inventory Control System inquiries or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed through cycle count.
