About The Position

Sets up and operates standard and specialized machine shop tools and equipment, both manual and CNC controlled. Fabricates, reworks, and/or repairs jigs, fixtures, gages, tools, and components by reading and comprehending complex blueprints. Performs one-of-a-kind or repetitive tasks involving machining, assembly, finishing, and grinding of various products to close tolerances. Must be able to check dimensional requirements and specifications using hand tools, gages, functional gages, and other prescribed measuring equipment. Requirements

  • Minimum of six years' current journeyman machinist experience in a production or inspection environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is a requirement for security clearance applicants.
  • Must pass a pre-placement physical, drug screening and background investigation.
  • Must receive and maintain a security clearance from the United States Department of Energy.

Nice To Haves

  • Position will be subject to shift work assignment and handling of special materials.
  • May be required to work in Radiological Controlled Areas and/or Beryllium Areas.
  • Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP).
  • If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709.
  • All employees are subject to being randomly selected for drug testing without advance notification.
