About The Position

This position is for an experienced Machinist in a manufacturing environment. The role involves operating various machine tools, performing layout work, making minor repairs to dies and machines, troubleshooting tooling and machining problems, and operating CNC machines. The machinist will also be involved in editing CNC programs and designing special purpose tools. Additionally, the role includes providing on-the-job training to new employees and adhering to safety and health policies. The position requires the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Requirements

Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
Ability to read tape measure accurately.
Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
Familiar with CNC programming languages.
30 months experience for basic tasks.
48 months experience for complex tooling, machining, and CNC programming tasks.

Nice To Haves

Basic trigonometric functions.
Complex math computations involving decimals, fractions, and evaluating trigonometric functions in US customary and SI units.

Responsibilities

Safely operate most types of machine tools including engine lathes, manual milling machines, horizontal boring mills, surface grinders, and radial arm drilling machines.
Perform basic layout work in accordance with engineering drawings or sketches.
Work unsupervised to make needed minor repairs to production supporting dies and/or machines.
Troubleshoot minor tooling problems and complex tooling or machining problems plant wide.
Operate some CNC machines used in the making of complex tooling, with supervision for some tasks and unsupervised for others.
Perform minor editing of CNC programs under supervision and writing and editing CNC programs independently.
Design and make special purpose tools.
Provide on the job training to new employees as needed.
Follow all safety and health policies and procedures issued by the company.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
