About The Position

The Maintenance Support First Line Manager position is located at our Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC), which hosts the core of the U.S. nuclear research and development capabilities with a diverse array of facilities designed for remote work on highly irradiated fuels and materials. A new fuel idea can be designed, fabricated, tested, and analyzed at MFC to better understand the effects of irradiation. Many groups, such as universities, industry partners, other national laboratories, international research organizations, and other federal agencies are working at MFC. This role requires you to enforce high standards of performance, professionalism, and safety, ensuring that all team members adhere to established practices and procedures while maintaining a productive and secure work environment. You will supervise with an operational focus in your area of functional expertise, providing immediate oversight to a unit or group of skilled employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and 9 years of relevant experience, OR, Associates degree from an accredited institution and 11 years of relevant experience, OR, high school diploma and 15 years of relevant experience.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises represented carpenters and painters; may be tasked to supervise other crafts as needed.
  • Maintains schedules and workflow of the team.
  • Direct subordinates on courses of action based on knowledge of established policies and procedure. Assign tasks and monitor work at frequent intervals.
  • Execute specified tasks.
  • Monitor projects to ensure completion on schedule and within budget.
  • Provide input and contribute to managing costs related to a unit or subunit.
  • Optimize the use of materials, tools, and manpower to achieve cost efficiency while maintaining strict procedural adherence.
  • First level of management with human resource responsibilities (i.e. hiring, promotions, discipline, etc.).
  • May have individual contributor responsibilities but people management is the essential element.
  • Interact daily with subordinates, peers, and leadership from across MFC and INL.
  • Follow established practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to protect staff, equipment, and the environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
