About The Position

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Metrology Technician to join their Advanced Inspection Specialty Services (AISS) team in Houston. The Metrology Technician will be responsible for setting up and operating various metrology equipment, including optical, handheld laser scanners, and CMMs, utilizing expert knowledge of hardware and software across diverse industries such as automotive, aerospace, petrochemical, power generation, and medical. Projects will encompass First Article Inspection, Scan to CAD Analysis, Reverse Engineering, Investigative tasks, and GD&T Inspection. This position requires travel and offers flexible hours with a part-time schedule.

Requirements

  • Presently pursuing a Technical or Associate’s degree in engineering technology / CAD Drafting & Design Technology (or related field) or equivalent technical / job experience
  • Experience with 3D CAD software is beneficial (i.e. AutoCAD, Geomatic, Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of ASME Y14.5 - Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T.)
  • Require Microsoft office proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Travel domestic and international (up to 50%)
  • Passport required
  • Able to work weekends / overtime if needed
  • Work well under pressure and understands deadlines
  • Attention to detail and able to follow specific directions and procedures
  • Good communication skills both verbally and written in English
  • Good organizational skills
  • Able to pass basic and site-specific training for all field job sites
  • Able to pass drug screen
  • Able to lift 50lbs or more
  • Valid and current driver's license with reliable driving record is required

Responsibilities

  • Setting up various metrology equipment (Optical, Handheld Laser Scanner, CMM, PCMM, etc.)
  • Performing hands-on operation of Optical data acquisition
  • Utilizing expert knowledge of metrology hardware and software in all industries
  • Ensuring successful project execution and client deliverables
  • Performing First Article Inspection, Scan to CAD Analysis, Reverse Engineering, Investigative tasks, and GD&T Inspection
  • Interface with clients on and off site to understand client needs and required deliverables
  • Receiving direction from AISS Team lead and working with other AISS technicians
  • Setting up, prepping scan articles, and running all metrology equipment In Lab and On Site
  • Process and Utilize 3D Data to produce CAD models or 2D manufacturing drawings
  • Perform detail analysis (Deviation, Color Charts, GD&T, etc.) and produce necessary deliverables
