Join our dynamic team and contribute to projects that have a meaningful impact across the globe. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented CMM Metrology Technician to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Supervisor of Mechanical Production, this individual will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to perform accurate dimensional inspections of mechanical and optical components. The role includes interpreting engineering drawings, running inspection programs, troubleshooting issues, and recording measurement results.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance, or related field, with a proven track record of leading quality initiatives in a manufacturing or operational environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CMM equipment in a manufacturing or machine shop setting.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T with the ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with CMM software such as Mitutoyo MCOSMOS or similar platforms, along with experience using precision measuring tools and gauges.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, precision-driven environment with strong proficiency in MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional inspection and acceptance of in-process production across mechanical, optical, and assembly areas to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Measure and verify gauges and fixtures as required to support production accuracy and reliability.
  • Manage and maintain CMM programs, ensuring correct revisions are used and properly implemented by operators.
  • Evaluate products against defined specifications, initiate rejection processes when necessary, and maintain accurate documentation and traceability records.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements to validate conformance with design specifications.
  • Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities by preparing reports in accordance with AS9102 standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration checks on CMM equipment to ensure consistent performance and measurement accuracy.
  • Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality teams to resolve discrepancies, while working safely, maintaining organization (5S), and adapting to shifting production priorities, including handling delicate optical components and working rotating shift schedules as required.
