About The Position

As a Metrology Technician at Canam Bridges, you will be responsible for taking factory measurements using “Station Total” and “Laser Tracker Faro” surveying tools. Your analytical mind will allow you to use your 3D vision superpowers to complete dimensional measurements. To break your routine, you will alternate between taking factory measurements, recording data, and writing reports. Your computer knowledge will make you an expert in AutoCAD and Polyworks. Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the USA.
  • Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and/or experience in detailing and fabrication.
  • Must be able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to production or productivity problems.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Must be able to schedule events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
  • Job requires a willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Tekla, FeatureCam, Polyworks, Station Total, Laser Tracker Faro, and other programs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Taking factory measurements using “Station Total” and “Laser Tracker Faro” surveying tools.
  • Using 3D vision to complete dimensional measurements.
  • Alternating between taking factory measurements, recording data, and writing reports.
  • Assisting Plant Manager and production staff in developing production plans.
  • Ensuring production objectives are met.
  • Offering recommendations and implementing production events and programs.
  • Performing work consistent with the company’s corporate mission, values, and departmental financial objectives.
  • Assisting in the production-planning process, schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Reading and analyzing data, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production productivity and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Identifying direct and indirect labor issues and production problems, making recommendations, and assisting management in developing a corrective action plan.
  • Compiling production planning notes, sketches, prints, schedules, contract documents and specifications into a formal build plan.
  • Aiding in the detailing and manipulation of models to accommodate additional views for fabrication per planning session.
  • Assisting on designing fixtures and jigs to aid fabrication.
  • Responsible for conventional and CNC machining, to include managing direct labor to accomplish coverage on equipment in support of production needs.
  • Training and assisting production members in the operation of conventional and CNC machining equipment in line with formal build plans.
  • Performing other job duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
