The Quality Technician is responsible for performing, documenting, gauge calibration recall, receiving, in-process and final inspection gauging to ensure conformance to applicable requirements.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required
Knowledge of reading blueprints and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Knowledge of mechanical inspection and proficiency in the use of manual & visual inspection equipment: e.g., calipers, gauges, micrometers, digital indicators, surface plates, microscopes, profilometers.
Good verbal and written communication skills, data entry skill, and detail oriented.
Ability to work in a team environment and to foster positive relationships with all functional groups.
Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Office).
Understands travelers and work instructions.
Desire to learn and to apply new skills.
Problem solving ability with an organized & analytical approach.
Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to ever-changing fast-paced manufacturing demands.
The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods.
Duties include turning at the waist, reaching, bending, squatting, and lifting to 50 pounds.
Ability to pass static strength requirements (grip).
Visual acuity including, but not limited to: NEAR ACUITY - Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. Use this factor when special and minute accuracy is demanded. FAR ACUITY - Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. Use this factor when visual efficiency in terms of far acuity is required in day and night/dark conditions. DEPTH PERCEPTION - Three-dimensional vision. Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships to see objects where and as they actually are. COLOR VISION - Ability to identify and distinguish colors. FIELD OF VISION - Observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.

Responsibilities

Applies knowledge of GD&T and Metrology principles, MSA, GR&R, Statistical Process Control (SPC) to ensure product gauging meets requirements.
Resolve issues and answer questions from Operators as well as from Inspectors and Engineers.
Train other inspectors and technicians.
Participate in special projects related to tooling, fixtures, and gages.
Identifies cost reduction projects utilizing Lean Manufacturing principle.
Assist with creation of instructions for using inspection tools and systems.
Provide inspection support to all departments in the organization, perform part inspection, and help with FAIs.
