About The Position

The Metrology Technician 3 utilizes metrology calibration systems and measurement techniques to measure object characteristics based on principles of measurement science. The role performs measurement surveys using Photogrammetry, Total Stations, Laser Trackers, CMMs, or other electronic 3D instruments. The technician uses 3D model-based software and design drawings to plan and execute surveys, then analyzes collected data for end users. The position also develops, coordinates, and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design; recommends design or test methods using metrology methodologies to achieve product reliability; and compiles and analyzes measured-data reports, including relevant variables that may affect products and processes. The technician may use Visual Basic to enhance 3D measurement software functionality. The position is full-time, has multiple shifts, is not eligible for telework, and does not include relocation assistance. Travel is not required. U.S. citizenship is required.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship is required.
A program graduation certificate from an approved institution may substitute for an Apprentice Certification, an associate degree, or another relevant two-year technical degree, and three years of related experience.
Two years of related experience may substitute for an associate degree.
Four years of non-related experience may substitute for an associate degree.

Responsibilities

Use metrology calibration systems and measurement techniques to measure object characteristics according to measurement science principles.
Perform measurement surveys using Photogrammetry, Total Stations, Laser Trackers, CMMs, or other electronic 3D instruments.
Use 3D model-based software and design drawings to plan and execute measurement surveys.
Analyze collected survey data and provide it to end users.
Develop, coordinate, and conduct technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design.
Recommend design or test methods that use metrology methodologies to achieve product reliability.
Compile and analyze measured-data reports, including relevant variables that may affect products and processes.
Potentially use Visual Basic to enhance the functionality of 3D measurement software.
