About The Position

Sawyer Composite, a subsidiary of Core Natural Resources, is a rapidly growing supplier of high-tech tools and composite parts for the aerospace, space, defense, and other industries. The Metrology Technician performs hands-on inspection, measurement, and reporting on tooling, parts, and assemblies used in high-performance aerospace, space, and defense applications. The role uses standard measuring instruments and advanced equipment, including FaroArms and laser trackers, to verify compliance with customer specifications.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Able to read, interpret, and inspect drawings, 3D-generated models, procedures, and process specifications, and articulate findings.
Proficient with basic measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gages, as well as other standard measuring and inspection equipment.
Proficient with advanced metrology equipment such as FaroArms, laser trackers, and laser scanners.
Problem-solving and analytical skills for root-cause analysis and troubleshooting.
Advanced knowledge of 3D inspection and procedures.
Must be available to work overtime and weeks as business requires.

Nice To Haves

Proficient in Verisurf software and use of Faro measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

Promote Core Natural Resources’ values of Safety, Sustainability, and Continuous Improvement.
Read, interpret, and inspect drawings, models, and process specifications in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.
Inspect tooling products, production parts, and machines using portable coordinate measurement systems, including laser trackers, FaroArms, and other precision measuring equipment.
Perform spot checks, in-process inspections, first-part buyoffs, and final inspections.
Calibrate and verify company and employee tools, arrange outside calibration when needed, and report nonconforming tools to management.
Generate inspection reports using Verisurf software.
Organize, file, and maintain inspection documents and data.
Measure aerospace molds, parts, and assemblies against 3D-generated models, drawings, and provided specifications.
