Metrology Engineer

USTech Solutions•Harrodsburg, KY

About The Position

As part of the Division Quality - Metrology group, the Metrology Engineer leads metrology technology transfer from R&D to production lines and provides leadership in problem-solving and technical expertise in metrology. The role leads projects from concept through implementation to support R&D-to-manufacturing transfer and production readiness, including metrology planning, gauge development, system qualification, deployment, and production release. The engineer works closely with QA, engineering, manufacturing, software, and controls teams to implement robust measurement solutions. Responsibilities include developing metrology strategies; surveying, developing, deploying, and qualifying gauges and measurement systems; designing and validating test methods; supporting fixtures and tools; and developing measurement-data reporting, traceability, usability, and analysis applications. The role also partners with controls and software engineers on operator interfaces, data collection systems, and databases; documents gauge engineering and operating instructions; prepares development and qualification reports; and trains and supports system users. The position provides technical leadership in second-level troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and sustainable corrective actions for plant gauges. It also leads gauge alignment and metrology standardization, including MSA, across internal plants, contract manufacturers, and customer sites as needed, and drives continuous improvement and long-term metrology capability development. The assignment is for 12 months, with a possible extension. The role is 40 hours per week, with expected hours as needed to deliver the project and provide support. Domestic travel of approximately 5% may be required depending on project stage and schedule, including travel to Corning, New York.
