Meter Technician (LaGrange County REMC)
About The Position
As a Meter Technician at LaGrange County REMC, you will configure, install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and monitor electrical meters and the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system. You will work with communications technology, investigate meter and data issues, monitor system performance, and ensure accurate, reliable usage data reaches billing and operational systems. The role also includes load management installation and maintenance, locating underground electrical and communication infrastructure, maintaining radio systems, installing DC batteries, and visiting members to respond to meter and voltage complaints. A strong understanding of electrical theory, wiring, metering equipment, and commercial and industrial electrical systems is important. Precision and attention to detail are critical because members’ bills rely on accurate metering data.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Electrical or utility industry experience.
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s degree in electrical technology or a similar field.
- Meter Technician Certification.
- 8–10 years’ experience as an industrial/commercial electrician, lineman, or in a related field.
