Requirements

Associate or higher degree from an accredited tech school or college in electronics engineering technology, electrical engineering technology, computer engineering technology or communications technology.
OR 3-5 years prior field work experience relevant to job description or comparable work experience.
Valid Driver's License.
Effective written and verbal communication skills necessary for customer and team interaction.
Knowledge of basic electrical principles and demonstrated proficiency in basic math skills.
Familiarity with basic computer operations and able to run common application programs such as Microsoft Office Products.
Ability to pass background screening to become NERCI-CIP compliant.
Must possess all of the basic/required qualifications.
Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience with electrical schematics.
Familiarity with watt-hour metering and associated equipment.
Knowledge of Interchange Tie-Testing, Wholesale/Transmission metering and Plant Metering.
Knowledge of high-end metering installations including JemStar, ION, Q1000 and translate meters.
Knowledge of Electric distributions systems, e.g. different services types and voltages.
Knowledge and experience working with Mobile Work Management Systems (SS9) application as well as other Duke applications such as Maplink, CBIS, Powertrack, etc.
Prior experience with telecommunications devices (i.e. Wireless, Cellular, RS 232/474, ethernet).
Prior experience with communication protocols (ie DNP, MODBUS, etc.).
Demonstrated problem solving and general troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of service area within reporting location.

Responsibilities

Install, test, troubleshoot, and program meters.
Perform electrical troubleshooting and installations.
Handle testing equipment and materials, which may involve squatting, lifting, and carrying up to 60 pounds.
Interact with customers, often involving conflict resolution.
Work around energized electrical apparatus.
Complete daily work via mobile laptops in trucks.
Respond to call-outs, extended days, and weekend work for scheduled projects or emergency restoration.
