About The Position

Under general supervision, the individual in this position will perform routine work in the execution of Electric and Water Meter service requests. This is a Full-Time, Non-Bargaining, Non-Exempt position based on a 40-hour work week with the starting hourly range of $21.89 - $27.36.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience as a Meter Reader
  • Must possess a valid and current Florida Driver’s License
  • Proficiency in operating computers and handheld devices
  • Experience in severe weather temperature and conditions
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to read meters rapidly and accurately
  • Ability to accurately perform simple arithmetic computations
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other employees and customers
  • Completion of FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) Certification Levels 100, 200, 700 and 800 within the first six months of employment.

  • A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Turns water meters and single-phase electric meters on and off upon request of customers or internal requirements
  • Obtains check readings upon request and answers customer inquiries in the field with considerable tact
  • Changes single phase electric meters on request
  • Reports irregularities
  • May act as Meter Reader
  • May deliver notices to customers
