About The Position

This position involves reading meters, which requires the ability to drive, write legibly, read at a comprehensive level, and possess a keen sense of smell and adequate hearing. The role also requires willingness to obtain first aid certification, good physical condition, map reading skills, mathematical calculation abilities, and tact for clear communication with the general public. Additionally, the meter reader must be capable of using a telephone, have a suitable personality for customer contact, be trainable in using various equipment and instruments, and be able to make clear written records. Training will also include recognizing pipe sizes, materials, and fittings, and passing specific training requirements.

Requirements

• Must have a valid Florida driver's license and be capable of driving automotive type equipment.
• Must be capable, able, and willing to furnish own transportation on a "per mileage" driven reimbursement basis.
• Must be able to write and print legibly.
• Must be able to read at normal comprehensive level.
• Must have keen sense of smell and adequate hearing.
• Must be willing to obtain certification to render first aid, artificial resuscitation, etc.
• Must be in good physical condition and capable of performing job requirements.
• Must be able to read street maps and travel to dispatched locations.
• Must be capable of performing mathematical calculations required to do the job.
• Must possess tact and ability to communicate clearly with general public.
• Must be capable of utilizing telephone.
• Must have suitable personality for customer contact.
• Must be capable of being trained in using all types of equipment and instruments associated with performance of duties.
• Must be able to make clear and legible drawings and/or written records of work operations.
• Must be capable of being trained to recognize and distinguish various size pipe, materials and fittings used in distribution system.
• Must be able to pass the training requirements outlined in the Training Grid associated with this position.
