Meter Reader
About The Position
This classification is a safety-sensitive position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations and/or the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act. As a safety-sensitive classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana certification will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION Read assigned water meters, perform and complete service orders related to new service turn on requests, service turn off requests, meter leak checks, re-reads and various other tasks. Participate in the monthly cut off process. Perform and complete customer service related tasks and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school or GED
- Specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area
- Related experience and/or training
- Finger dexterity enough to operate equipment such as a smartphone, personal keyboard
- Near vision enough to read and review smartphone screen and computer generated work orders
- Speech and hearing enough to communicate clearly and distinctly in person and by telephone
- Flexible enough to use hands and arms to grab, hold, reach, etc.
- Strength to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs; frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs
- Driving assigned vehicle
