About The Position

Under the supervision of qualified personnel, the Meter B employee performs or assists with testing, refurbishing, and certifying gas meters and regulation equipment used to regulate and measure the distribution of natural gas to end users. The role also supports other meter shop duties, meter reading, and other assigned work. This is an onsite field position for The Berkshire Gas Company in Adams, Massachusetts.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent GED.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Ability to secure DOT certification.
Ability to secure forklift operation certification.
Ability to attain and maintain the OQ requirements for the role.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Effective problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and analytical ability to evaluate complex data and exercise good judgment when determining follow-up actions, including while working without close supervision.
Strong PC skills, proficient use of Microsoft Excel and Word, and ability to learn associated departmental business software.
Superior arithmetic skills and ability to use a calculator.
Good organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
Proficiency in the safe use of handheld and power tools.
High productivity and a results-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

Provide departmental support for Meter Services by conducting in-tests and out-tests of gas meters for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
Use shop equipment, including pallet trucks, forklifts, a paint spray booth, an industrial washing machine, and meter proving apparatuses.
Deliver meters to outlying operation centers using a rack-body truck weighing more than 10,000 pounds.
Provide backup support for meter reading, including driving meter routes.
Enter data in SAP.
Perform other meter shop duties and assigned work.
