About The Position

NBCUniversal is seeking a Meteorologist for Telemundo T39 Dallas/Fort Worth. This role involves telling the market's weather stories in an engaging and accurate way, utilizing hyper-local forecasting and innovative presentation methods. The meteorologist will produce weather graphics, analyze data from meteorological sources, and utilize advanced technologies like MAX reality and MAX Connect for creative storytelling and field reporting. Responsibilities may extend to producing segments for other Telemundo and NBCU stations within the group, collaborating with the weather team and producers on comprehensive coverage of weather events, and preparing post-forecasts for multiple news platforms. The role also includes daily website updates, live reporting, community event attendance, and social media engagement, particularly during severe weather. The meteorologist will participate in editorial meetings, contribute enterprise ideas, and represent Telemundo Dallas in the community.

Requirements

Fluency in Spanish and English, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
3+ years of experience as a weather presenter.
Degree in meteorology or atmospheric science.
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
Must be 18 years or greater.

Must have the ability to work flexible and sometimes long hours wall-to-wall due to the nature of weather events in DFW.
Ability to work nights and weekends for coverage of weather events.
Technologically savvy with strong computer skills (working knowledge of WSI system and WSI 3D graphics preferred).
Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills in Spanish and English.
Strong leadership qualities and self-motivation.

Experience with severe weather coverage, including but not limited to hurricanes, tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, flooding, and winter events.
Passion to be a part of a major weather event, no matter when it happens.
Compelling on-air presence - crisp, clear, and confident delivery in Spanish.
Should thrive working under the intense deadline pressure of television weather.

Responsibilities

Tell the market’s weather stories in a way that connects with and captivates viewers.
Develop innovative and creative ways of presenting the daily weather story, emphasizing accuracy and hyper-local forecasting.
Produce weather graphics and analyze data from the National Weather Service and other meteorological sources.
Knowledge of MAX reality and producing 3-D models to integrate into creative storytelling.
Use MAX Connect and MAX Reality on the field.
When needed, it might be required to produce weather segments for other Telemundo and NBCU stations within the station group.
Work with the weather team and producers to create complete coverage of weather events.
Prepare post-forecasts for multiple news platforms.
Constantly update the weather for the Telemundo Dallas website.
Live reporting and attendance at community and weather-related events when needed.
Daily social media posts, especially during severe weather events.
Science-oriented story production and execution.
Participate in the editorial meetings, be on time, and be prepared to contribute enterprise ideas to the producer team.
Represent Telemundo Dallas in the community through events requiring the employee to MC.
