About The Position

KCEN KAGS-TV Temple in NBC is seeking a dynamic, engaging Meteorologist to prepare and deliver accurate weather reports on-air and online in a conversational manner. The role gathers and analyzes information to alert audiences about weather in their communities. The Meteorologist contributes across forecasting, graphic preparation, field reporting, and severe-weather coverage, reaching audiences on television, online, and social media. The position also participates in brainstorming and planning future shows, including coverage of significant weather events and explainers, and explores new technology and ways to present weather stories.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in Meteorology, Geoscience, or Atmospheric Science.
• 0–1 years of on-air meteorology experience required.
• Proficiency posting content to websites and social media.
• Computer literacy, including weather and newsroom computer systems.
• Current driver's license and ability to operate a news-gathering vehicle to and from various locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and compelling weather forecasts in a multi-platform environment.
• Prepare and deliver severe-weather updates, interrupting regular programming as necessary.
• Produce clean, creative, and informative graphics to tell the weather story.
• Fill in on other shifts when necessary.
• Write and report from the field or inside the newsroom.
• Update the website and interact with viewers on social media platforms daily.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
• Make public appearances.
• Gather and analyze weather information and alert audiences about conditions in their communities.
• Participate in brainstorming and planning future shows, including coverage of important weather events and explainers.
