About The Position

A&M Industrial, a 70-year-old, family-owned, leading local industrial distribution company, is seeking career-oriented individuals to join their sales and support team. The Metalworking Field Sales Representative will be responsible for executing sales strategy, initiating contact with existing and potential customers, identifying their needs, and selling appropriate metalworking and machine tools to meet those needs.

Requirements

  • Machining background, manufacturing experience or strong mechanical abilities
  • Computer literate, experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced changing and dynamic work environment.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills.
  • Works well in a group/team setting with limited amounts of supervision.
  • Prior experience in Industrial Sales and/or Distribution
  • Prior experience with metal cutting tooling and or grinding.
  • Prior experience with CNC programming and operating.
  • Prior experience with machining process improvement and cost savings documentation

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for metalworking applications.
  • Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability or specifications.
  • Manage assigned accounts.
  • Call prospective customers and establish buying cycles, customer needs, and create a customer supplier relationship.
  • Increase sales in respective accounts.
  • Prepare sales information for customers.
  • Establish buying influences, budgets and purchasing criteria for assigned accounts.
  • Secure and place orders taking into consideration delivery dates and inventory levels for fulfillment.
  • Determine clients’ requirements and expectations, recommend specific products, services and/or solutions.
  • Develop strategic plans and accurate forecasts for accounts.
  • Proactively recommend items needed by clients to increase efficiency and improve transaction profitability.
  • Increase sales and average order size by means of cross-selling, up-selling, add-on sales and offering featured promotional sale items.
  • Educate clients about terminology, features and benefits of products in order to improve product related sales and client satisfaction.
  • Contact clients following sales to ensure ongoing client satisfaction and resolve any complaints.
  • Remain current on client preferences, changes in local codes and product developments by attending sales meetings, vendor training, trade shows and reading trade journals.
  • Manage time effectively, meet personal goals and work effectively with other members of the team.
  • Maintain proficiency in using personal computer, CRM tools and other office equipment and software.
  • Present a professional image at all times to clients and vendors.
