About The Position

As a full-time Metalworking Field Application Specialist, you will manage projects focused on implementation, productivity improvement, supply chain efficiencies, and profit-dollar gains for Fastenal and its existing end users. Your technical expertise will support end users with defined needs and expectations for testing processes, part identification, and supply-chain continuity through partnerships. You will work closely with other metalworking team members on customer-site projects that have been vetted and require advanced technical support.

Requirements

• Possess a current, full, valid driver's license issued in the country where the job is located, including successful completion of any applicable graduated license program, and meet driving-record requirements to use a company vehicle as needed.
• Possess a degree, certificate, or diploma in CNC, Machining, Business, or an Operations-related field of study, or have at least 2 years of industry-related work experience.
• Have excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrate strong technical aptitude in machining and tooling.
• Be highly motivated, self-directed, and customer-service oriented.
• Be able to work independently and in a team environment.
• Demonstrate strong organization, planning, and prioritizing abilities.
• Be willing to travel 50% or more, including required overnights.
• Demonstrate the company's core values of ambition, innovation, integrity, and teamwork.
• Be able to lift, slide, carry, and lower packages typically weighing 25–50 pounds and potentially up to 75 pounds.
• Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico, and Guam only).
• Pass a background check required by a customer or contract serviced by this location.

Nice To Haves

• 5 years of experience with metal-cutting tooling.
• 5 years of experience with CNC programming.

Responsibilities

• Support customer implementation programs, with a focus on onsite locations, to increase speed to revenue.
• Create supply-chain efficiencies that reduce overall operating costs and document cost savings.
• Drive margin improvement through conversions, focusing on increased profit dollars.
• Work toward customer productivity-improvement goals focused on metal-removal operations.
