About The Position

The duties of the Metal Recovery Technician include: The safe and efficient operation and mechanical repair of all equipment associated with the Residue, ferrous, and Non-ferrous systems including ash/ferrous load-out via overhead crane. The chosen candidate will also perform lockout and tagout of the ferrous and non-ferrous system as well as becoming proficient at the ferrous and ash crane load out process. Responsibilities consist of obtaining daily logs, monitoring the operation and maintenance of earth magnet conveyors, belt conveyors, motors and gearboxes, vibrating pans, grizzlies, screw conveyors, ECS magnets, drag conveyors, pug mills, ash sampling process and PLC control center. In addition the mechanical ability to perform preventative and corrective maintenance including gearbox and motor change outs, ECS and conveyor belt change out, roller & bearing replacement, screen and spring replacements, belt tracking, scraper adjustments or replacement, metal & rubber skirting replacement, guarding repairs & structural repairs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • At least one year of previous experience in the operation of heavy industrial machinery or demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Duties require frequent and extended periods of outside and inside work, subject to all weather conditions and extremes.
  • Continuous walking, standing, climbing and frequent periods requiring sustained uncomfortable physical positions.
  • Regular and sustained periods of strenuous physical exertion, requiring the ability to lift, carry and position heavy objects utilizing proper body mechanics and techniques.
  • Operation of tools and equipment which cause loud noise and vibrations.
  • Strong Safety awareness, leadership and motivational skills are a must.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to operate Front-end Loaders, Skid Steers, Man-lifts, Lull’s and Forklifts.
  • Military or formal technical/apprentice training is desirable.
  • Previous power plant / industrial experience is a plus.
  • Welding in SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW is a plus.
