Meta-Optics Intern Summer 2027

Metalenz•Boston, MA
•$5,500 - $8,500•Hybrid

About The Position

Metalenz is hiring a Meta-Optics Intern to help advance and support product design in imaging and non-imaging optical technologies. The intern will apply knowledge of metasurfaces, diffractive optics, and optics to meta-optic system design problems, contribute to the design team's software toolkit, and help expand system design capabilities beyond traditional optics approaches. The role includes applying in-house techniques to a range of consumer applications, particularly metasurface-integrated image sensors, while learning about Metalenz products and the process of productizing meta-optics. Metalenz develops metasurface optical sensing solutions for consumer electronics, including compact 3D sensing. Its work brings optics production into semiconductor foundries and uses existing manufacturing infrastructure. The company describes its culture as dynamic, collaborative, and technical, with autonomy, innovation, and opportunities to take ownership of impactful projects. The position is based in downtown Boston near North Station. The stated base compensation range is $5,500–$8,500 per month, with individual pay determined by factors including relevant skills, experience, and education or training.
