About The Position

As a Met Lab Technician, you will perform routine, repetitive assignments involving detail visual mechanical and dimensional inspections, chemistry and physical measurements following approved procedures. Setup and monitor different pieces of analytical equipment. Perform troubleshooting when you observe analytical equipment performing below expectations or negative trends. Perform routine, repetitive metallographic laboratory assignments following established procedures and verbal instructions.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent, with a course in chemistry, physics or electronics, to provide familiarity with laboratory equipment or a relevant technical degree
• Identify process upsets
• Perform standard shop math
• 2 years in an analytical laboratory
• Perform basic conversions and statistics
• Analytical chemistry techniques
• Inspire and relate well to others
• Create and lead teams
• Laboratory, materials engineering, or welding technology

Responsibilities

• Setup and monitor analytical equipment
• Calibrate and operate equipment.
• Prepare required reagents, solution, and standards
• Review data and able to identify trends and interpret analytical results
• Trouble shoot and maintenance of equipment
• Perform 1st echelon maintenance. Follow procedural trouble shooting steps
• Maintain cleanliness of tools, work area, and equipment
• Perform dimensional inspections and physical measurements
• Visual inspection
• Measure product with non-destructive measuring equipment
• Metallographic analysis
• Perform analysis of solutions and metals
