About The Position

This position is for current MidwayUSA Employees only. The Merchandising Manager - Shooting Category is responsible for driving sales and margins, managing inventory and product selection, and providing first-class product information in the Shooting category. The role involves developing strategies to market and promote the Shooting categories, managing the overall product offering, benchmarking and pricing products, negotiating with suppliers, creating and implementing category sales plans, managing purchase orders and inventory, analyzing sales results, developing supplier relationships, coordinating with the Marketing team for SEO and promotional performance, and mentoring, training, and developing their team. This is an in-seat position located in Columbia, Missouri, reporting to the Director of Merchandising – Shooting Division.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, marketing, or supply chain management.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience managing an outdoor category or product line.
  • An intimate knowledge of and passion for shooting and all products associated with this category.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products like Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint with ability to learn proprietary software.
  • A love of the outdoors and outdoor recreational activities.
  • A desire to work in an active workplace surrounded by other like-minded, high performing people.
  • Committed to Customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.
  • Positive attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies to market and promote the Shooting categories.
  • Manage the overall offering of products in your categories.
  • Benchmark and price products.
  • Negotiate both tactical and strategic initiatives and contracts with Suppliers.
  • Create and implement category sales plans including growth initiatives, promotions, purchasing & inventory requirements, and projections.
  • Place purchase orders, manage inventory and in transits to ensure availability meets Customer demand.
  • Analyze & interpret sales results and take action to drive improvement.
  • Actively engage in developing meaningful, productive Supplier relationships.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing team to maximize SEO and promotional performance.
  • Mentor, train and develop your team.
