About The Position

The Von Maur Merchandising Internship is a 10-week immersive business and merchant development experience designed for students interested in pursuing a career in buying, merchandising, and retail strategy. Interns begin their experience in a Davenport Von Maur store to develop a foundational understanding of customer experience and how merchandising decisions impact business performance. Interns transition to the Corporate Office in Davenport, Iowa where they are paired directly with a Buyer and gain exposure to the full merchandising lifecycle. This internship provides hands-on experience in assortment planning, business analysis, vendor partnership, inventory strategy, and retail decision-making while developing the skills needed for a future career in merchandising.

Requirements

Must have a graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028 from a college/university
Major related to Merchandising, Fashion, Business, Retail, Analytics, or a related field
Available to work full time (35–40 hrs/week) during the summer and live in Davenport, Iowa for the 10-week program (paid housing provided)
Possesses strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
Demonstrates curiosity, adaptability, and interest in retail strategy and buying

Nice To Haves

Retail, merchandising, leadership, or business experience preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office preferred

Responsibilities

Gain hands-on experience supporting Buyers and merchandising teams in daily business execution
Analyze reports, business performance, and customer insights to identify opportunities and drive decisions
Participate in assortment planning, inventory management, and merchandising strategy
Participate in store visits, vendor appointments, and professional development opportunities to gain exposure across the retail business
