About The Position

We are seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager with a strong focus on Plumbing and Fire Protection systems to join a leading General Contractor delivering a major ground-up data center development in Michigan City, Indiana. This is a site-based role taking ownership of critical plumbing, fire protection and associated life-safety packages across a large-scale, fast-paced data center project. While this position sits within the wider MEP team, we are specifically looking for someone with strong experience on the plumbing side of MEP, particularly plumbing and fire protection systems. The successful candidate will have a strong General Contractor background with previous experience delivering ground-up data center or mission-critical construction projects.

Requirements

  • Previous ground-up data center construction experience
  • General Contractor (GC) background
  • Proven MEP Project Management experience
  • Strong plumbing and fire protection experience
  • Experience managing large plumbing and/or fire protection subcontractor packages
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing, fire suppression and life-safety systems
  • Understanding of wider MEP systems and how they interface within mission-critical environments
  • Experience managing schedules, budgets, procurement and change orders
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings and specifications
  • Strong subcontractor and stakeholder management skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced mission-critical construction environment
  • Must be willing to work full-time on site in Michigan City, Monday to Friday

Responsibilities

  • Manage plumbing and fire protection packages from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover
  • Oversee installation of domestic water, sanitary, storm and drainage systems
  • Manage fire protection and suppression systems across the project
  • Coordinate life-safety systems and associated MEP interfaces
  • Manage plumbing and fire protection subcontractors, vendors and suppliers
  • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, controls and commissioning teams
  • Review MEP drawings, specifications and construction documents
  • Manage RFIs, submittents, change orders and procurement
  • Monitor budgets, forecasts and project schedules
  • Lead coordination between design teams, engineers, subcontractors and field operations
  • Identify constructability issues, clashes and potential schedule impacts
  • Ensure plumbing and fire protection installations meet project specifications, codes and quality requirements
  • Coordinate inspections, testing and system sign-offs
  • Work closely with Superintendents and field leadership to drive schedule and subcontractor performance
  • Support system testing, commissioning, documentation and final turnover
