About The Position

AECOM is seeking an experienced, innovative and forward-thinking Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing / Fire Protection Engineering Manager to help grow and lead our building engineering practice in Boston. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on building high-performing teams across disciplines, shaping strategy, and making a real impact. You’ll take the lead on major pursuits for the building engineering disciplines, manage and expand a talented team, and work directly with high-profile clients — including major U.S. airport and transportation authorities, research/science, higher education clients and municipal/state/federal agencies. Requirements

  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • 2+ years of HVAC or mechanical team leadership experience.
  • PE license in Mechanical Engineering, with the ability to obtain licensure in additional U.S. states.

Nice To Haves

  • 15+ years of experience including at least two in a leadership role.
  • Affinity for client service and business development.
  • Proven ability to build positive working relationships and lead through influence and inclusivity.
  • Experience with aviation, transportation and/or federal sector projects.
  • Strong background in sustainable and high-performance building design.
  • Familiarity with central utility plant systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow AECOM's building engineering practice in Boston, balancing technical excellence, team development, client service, and business performance.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to expand local MEP capabilities and build an integrated, multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Drive major project pursuits — both stand-alone MEP/FP work and as part of larger multi-discipline teams.
  • Act as technical leader and quality reviewer across a range of project sizes and complexities., creating an environment where talented engineers can do their best work.
  • Serve as design manager on complex projects with significant engineering scope, working closely with project managers to deliver high quality documents.
  • Lead interdisciplinary coordination/quality reviews and ensure engineering standards are met.
  • Coach, mentor and develop engineers at all career stages, helping them achieve technical, professional, and leadership goals.
  • Manage forecasting, resource planning, and staff performance, including goal-setting and annual reviews for mechanical department.
  • Assist the electrical department manager to do the same.
  • Represent AECOM to clients, participate in interviews, and help craft winning proposals.
  • Provide technical vision and thought leadership for mechanical engineering across the Boston practice.
