About The Position

This position functions as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team, assisting licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care. The role involves supporting unit functions, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and communicating pertinent patient information. Responsibilities vary slightly between inpatient and outpatient settings, with inpatient roles focusing on direct patient care under RN supervision and outpatient roles focusing on carrying out treatment plans under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, RN, and Program Director.

Requirements

Current and valid license as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) issued by the State, if a CNA.
If not a CNA, a minimum of one year experience working as a Mental Health Worker in a hospital setting.
BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current.

Nice To Haves

One (1) year prior mental health experience preferred.
Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living.
Support unit functions and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors, and co-workers.
Function as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team and communicate pertinent patient information to the supervising RN.
Perform clerical duties as assigned.
Provide basic nursing care for adult and geriatric patients.
Carry out activities of daily living program and individual treatment plans for psychiatric patients (in outpatient setting).
Perform responsibilities within the guidelines of Nursing Structure Standards, Hospital/Nursing Policy, and state regulatory and accrediting requirements.
