Mental Health Worker - Psych ED
About The Position
The Mental Health Worker position is located in the Emergency Department Behavioral Health Pods at Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL. This is a Full-Time, Nights position, working from 7pm to 7:30am. The Mental Health Worker assists licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living, under the direction and supervision of the RN, LVN, or Charge RN. This role supports unit functions, maintains a safe and clean environment, and acts as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team by communicating pertinent patient information to the supervising RN. The position also involves performing clerical duties as assigned and providing basic nursing care for adult and geriatric patients, adhering to Nursing Structure Standards, Hospital/Nursing Policy, and state regulatory and accrediting requirements.
Requirements
- Current and valid license as a Certified Nursing Assistant issued by the State if a CNA.
- BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
Nice To Haves
- A minimum of one year experience working as Mental Health Worker in a hospital setting preferred.
- One (1) year prior mental health experience preferred.
- Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist the licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living.
- Supports the unit functions and maintains a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors and co-workers.
- Functions as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team and communicates pertinent patient information to the supervising RN.
- Performs some clerical duties as assigned.
- Provides basic nursing care for the adult and geriatric patients.
- Performs responsibilities within the guidelines of the Nursing Structure Standards, Hospital/Nursing Policy and state regulatory and accrediting requirements.
