About The Position

The Mental Health Worker in the Inpatient setting, under the direction and supervision of the RN, LVN or Charge RN, assists licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living. This role supports unit functions, maintains a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors, and co-workers, and functions as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team by communicating pertinent patient information to the supervising RN. The Mental Health Worker performs clerical duties as assigned and provides basic nursing care for adult and geriatric patients, adhering to Nursing Structure Standards, Hospital/Nursing Policy, and state regulatory and accrediting requirements.

Requirements

Current and valid license as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) issued by the State, if applicable.
BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
A minimum of one year experience working as a Mental Health Worker in a hospital setting is preferred if not a CNA.

Nice To Haves

One (1) year prior mental health experience preferred.
Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred.

Responsibilities
