About The Position

Under the supervision of the Family Guidance Service Coordinator, this therapist is a member of a large, team oriented, intensive family intervention unit that works with children who have a Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) and their families. Services include family therapy, individual therapy, and case management in family homes and community locations for a caseload of between 12-15. The position includes many opportunities for rich training and potential opportunities to train in a variety of evidenced based treatments while receiving weekly supervision, participating in engaging clinical teams and working in a strength based culture that values wellness, creativity and intensity. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field (or must be obtained within 60 days of application).
  • Possession of an appropriate State of Michigan credential (or must have applied for and be able to obtain within 60 days of hire).
  • One year of experience (professional or paraprofessional) in the examination, evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with Severe Emotional Disturbance and their families, or one academic year of graduate practicum/internship experience with children with SED and families.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Must be able to work some evening hours.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use.
