About The Position

This position offers a $2,000 (1 year stay-on agreement) or $4,000 (2 year stay-on agreement) Sign On Bonus with the agency, provided upon completion of a probationary period. Under the supervision of a Coordinator or Supervisor, this role serves as a master's level professional clinician performing a wide range of direct and indirect mental health and co-occurring substance abuse services. Responsibilities include case management, therapy, recommending referrals, consulting with service providers, and extensive case documentation. The candidate will assess challenging behaviors and emotional trauma, develop treatment plans often using a strength-based model, and provide evidence-based practices such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Family Psychoeducation, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. The role involves running groups and implementing treatments in individual sessions, ensuring all activities align with CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field is required.
  • Possession of an appropriate State of Michigan credential is required.
  • One year of experience (professional or paraprofessional) working with persons with mental illness required or one academic year of graduate practicum/internship experience working with persons with mental illness required.
  • Candidate must be able to work well with others.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both verbally and in writing required.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable means of transportation for job related use required.
  • Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a background verification, and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, verification of a professional license, Medicaid/Medicare verification, verification of an acceptable Michigan driving record, educational background check, and verification of an acceptable work history.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a master's level professional clinician performing a wide range of direct and indirect mental health and co-occurring substance abuse services within a specific program or area of assignment.
  • Serves as a case manager, conducts therapy, and recommends referrals to various programs, program components and other services in the community.
  • Consults with service providers.
  • Responsible for extensive case documentation.
  • Assesses challenging behaviors and emotional trauma by interviewing and observing consumers, reviewing appropriate records and developing a specific treatment plan often using a strength based model.
  • Provide evidence-based practices such Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Family Psychoeducation, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and other evidence-based processes as assigned.
  • Participate in running these groups and/ or implementing these treatments in individual sessions.
  • Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.
