About The Position

Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS) is a leading healthcare services provider. SandyPines Residential Treatment Center, a 149-bed facility in South Florida, is seeking a Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join their team. The MHT will work under the direction of a Registered Nurse and provide milieu management, patient care supervision, and lead therapeutic groups. They will also conduct patient rounds, participate in crisis intervention, and follow the individualized plan of care for patients ranging from adolescent through geriatrics.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent
At least one (1) year of previous experience in a healthcare setting and/or previous behavioral health experience strongly preferred
Current BLS certification required
Must complete and maintain training Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) (aggression management, crisis intervention and restraint training)
Must pass competency exams within 90 days of hire
May be required to work overtime and flexible hours
Must be able to prioritize workload, effectively multi-task and problem solve in a fast paced environment
Excellent listening, communication, prioritization and follow through skills with strong focus on providing high quality patient care

Responsibilities

Milieu management and continuous patient care supervision
Interactions & role modeling to patients
Ensure a safe environment
Lead therapeutic MHT patient groups
Conduct Q15 rounds and one to one patient supervision
Participate in crisis intervention situations as needed
Follow the therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team for each patient
Maintain awareness of patient’s individualized plan of care including goals and interventions
