About The Position

The McLean Hospital Corporation is seeking a Mental Health Technician for a per diem, as-needed position at the ART program in Middleboro, MA. The ART program is a 22-bed, short-term residential treatment program that utilizes dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) as its primary treatment modality. It serves patients with a variety of psychiatric and psychosocial challenges, including suicidal and non-suicidal self-injurious behaviors, mood and anxiety disorders, substance misuse, psychosis, and trauma reactivity. This position requires a minimum of four 8-hour shifts per month, with at least two of those shifts falling on weekends. The shifts will be a rotation of Days and Evenings, and the technician must be able to work both.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Ability to work well collaboratively and independently.
Ability to operate within Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities successfully.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to work effectively with patients, other members of the Health Care Team, facility personnel, and families/supportive others.
Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Successful completion of CPI training is required within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred
Nursing Assistant [LNA - New Hampshire] - New Hampshire Board of Nursing preferred
related experience 0-1 year preferred

Responsibilities

Responsible for providing direct care to patients with psychiatric disorder.
Ensure the safety and well-being of patients.
Support the maintenance of therapeutic milieu.
Assist with care and treatment of psychiatric, drug and alcohol patients.
Advocate for patients who may be vulnerable or need additional support.
Provide Parent/Family counseling, including Parent Management Training and Family Systems interventions.
Adhere to guidelines for patients on special status (i.e. suicide, sexual abuse or AWOL precautions).
Provide accurate information on shift-to-shift report and remain on the unit while incoming shift is in report.
Think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
Display professional boundaries in relationships with patients at all times.
Complete and file all documentation as required in a timely manner.
