About The Position

Texas Health is hiring a full-time, night-shift Mental Health Technician for the Behavioral Health Department at Texas Health Dallas. The department is a busy outpatient clinic with Partial Hospital Programs and an Intensive Out-Patient Program serving adults with co-occurring behavioral health and chemical dependency needs. The team offers self-scheduling, a collaborative work environment, and opportunities for educational and career growth. The Mental Health Technician assists with and helps coordinate patient care alongside the multidisciplinary team. The role includes welcoming and orienting patients, reviewing safety procedures and unit guidelines in coordination with the nurse, helping prepare patients for discharge or transfer, and ensuring patients’ belongings are returned, except for medication.

Requirements

High school diploma and one year of experience, or an associate’s degree in a healthcare field.
Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification is required with a high school diploma.
Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency.

Nice To Haves

One year of inpatient behavioral health experience as a Mental Health Technician (MHT), Patient Care Technician (PCT), CNA, or in a related position.
Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare field.

Responsibilities

Assist with and help coordinate patient care.
Assist with patient care provided by the multidisciplinary team.
Encourage team members and provide instruction to them.
Greet and receive patients arriving or being admitted to the unit or area.
Orient patients to their surroundings and review safety procedures, unit rules, and guidelines while coordinating with the nurse.
Prepare patients for discharge or transfer.
Help gather patients’ belongings and ensure all belongings except medication are returned to them.
