Mental Health Technician - Evenings
About The Position
Three Trails Behavioral Hospital in the area of Independence, MO is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join their overnight team. In this hands-on role, you will work directly with patients experiencing behavioral health challenges, helping to ensure their safety, support their treatment plans, and promote a positive therapeutic environment. The hospital will serve children and adolescents, adults and seniors with innovative and evidence-based inpatient behavioral healthcare focused on individual needs and comfort. It is expected to create more than 200 new, full-time jobs including nurses, clinicians, therapists, technicians and administrative staff, when the facility is fully operational. The facility will be located at the intersection of I-70 and Little Blue Parkway, adjacent to the Children’s Mercy Hospital Outpatient Clinics. It will feature 120 licensed beds ready to meet the mental health needs of the surrounding community and span more than 88,000 square feet, and will include an activity yard and gym.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and observational skills
- Must be able to manage challenging behaviors with professionalism and empathy
- Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire
- Ability to work 12 hour shifts
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field
- Previous experience in behavioral health, psychiatric care, or healthcare setting
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and supervision in a behavioral health setting
- Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment at all times
- Conduct routine patient safety checks and observations
- Support patients with daily living activities as appropriate
- Respond appropriately to situations and behavioral escalations
- Collaborate with nursing and clinical staff to support patient care plans.
