About The Position

Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS) is a Fortune 500 corporation and one of the nation's largest providers of hospital and healthcare services. SandyPines Residential Treatment Center, a 149-bed facility in South Florida, services children and adolescents aged 5 to 17. We are seeking a Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join our team. The MHT, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, is an active member of the patient treatment team. This role involves milieu management, continuous patient care supervision, interactions and role modeling, ensuring a safe environment, leading therapeutic MHT patient groups, conducting Q15 rounds, one-to-one patient supervision, and participating in crisis intervention. The MHT will follow therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team and maintain awareness of each patient's individualized plan of care.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Must complete and maintain training Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) (aggression management, crisis intervention and restraint training)
  • Must pass competency exams within 90 days of hire
  • Must be able to prioritize workload, effectively multi-task and problem solve in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent listening, communication, prioritization and follow through skills with strong focus on providing high quality patient care
  • Continuous verbal and written communication, hearing ordinary conversation
  • Occasionally hearing high pitched or low-pitched sounds
  • Continuous firm/simple grasping and fine manipulating of both hands

Nice To Haves

  • At least one (1) year of previous experience in a healthcare setting and/or previous behavioral health experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities
