About The Position

FHE Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician for its Detox and Mental Health facility. The role supports patients entering treatment and assists nursing staff with day-to-day processing of new admissions. The technician observes patient activity, assists with daily activities and activities of daily living as needed, and communicates relevant observations to the treatment team. The position also involves responding to crises, maintaining patient safety and orderly conduct, conducting property searches, observing urinalysis exams, and transporting patients to appointments or the emergency room when necessary.

Requirements

Current CPR certification, or the ability to obtain it.
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training, or the ability to obtain it.
Valid Florida driver’s license.
At least 21 years of age to drive company vehicles, if required.
Certification or an associate degree in behavioral health.
Experience working in a mental health institution or psychiatric facility.

Responsibilities

Assist nursing staff with day-to-day processing of new admissions.
Support patients entering treatment at the facility.
Observe patient activity, maintain a visible presence with patients on and off campus, and circulate throughout the treatment center.
Assist patients with daily activities and activities of daily living as needed.
Serve as a liaison between patients and the treatment team and document pertinent observations.
Recognize and respond to crisis situations with appropriate interventions.
Supervise patients while they unpack or pack.
Maintain orderly patient conduct and ensure patient safety.
Search patient property and remove contraband.
Observe urinalysis exams.
Transport patients to and from the emergency room or doctor’s appointments when necessary using a company vehicle.
