About The Position

Under the supervision of a Mental Health Leadership Team Member, the Mental Health Provider, Multilingual will provide mental health services in an integrated health care agency serving UW-Madison students across identities and programs. UHS Mental Health Services provides flexible, short-term mental health care in supportive and responsive ways to meet students’ individual needs. UHS offers counseling as well as psychiatry, survivor support, and assessments for specialized concerns. Through a blend of clinical services and proactive outreach programs, we aim to meet students where they are emotionally and where students live, learn, and gather.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience in a mental health setting is required by the start date of this position
  • Must be a licensed mental health provider in the State of Wisconsin. OR, if hold in training licensure, must have completed 1000 qualifying hours, must complete hours requirements within one (1) year of hire in the State of Wisconsin, and must complete all licensure requirements for independent practice in the State of Wisconsin within fifteen (15) months of her, with verification of all licensure materials to DSPS.
  • Mater’s degree in counseling or related mental health field

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual and group therapy services
  • Participates in the provision of clinical crisis services and on-call mental health services (during business hours)
  • Provides campus-based services/outreach including programming and consultation
  • Responds to campus crises
  • Engages in caseload management consistent with short-term counseling to balance new and ongoing client needs
  • Effectively provides clinical services aligned with best practices and ethical standards for individuals from diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation for all clinical interactions and consultations
  • Involved in the development and implementation of programs and services at MHS
  • Contributes to formal and informal consultation with UHS colleagues and campus partners, including regular attendance of peer consult space
  • Collaborates with providers and staff in UHS units and with campus partners
  • Follows agency policies and procedures consistent with state mental health statutes, ethical guidelines, best practices, HIPAA, and FERPA
  • Attends staff, and workgroup meetings as assigned
  • Attends Mental Health sponsored professional development activities
  • Engages in service through campus or community involvement based on organizational need, e.g. committee involvement, training/mentoring, delivering presentations, critical incident response
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Provides individual and group counseling to students struggling with developmental and/or personal mental health issues and refers students to appropriate community resources
  • Maintains accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Prepares presentations and outreach activities and facilitates student adjustment and success programs to promote a healthy campus
  • Provides individual and group counseling in Spanish
  • Facilitates psycho-educational and process-oriented groups
  • Delivers crisis intervention, including regular on‑call shifts and additional on call coverage when needed
  • Provides counseling and/or information and referral services to faculty and staff
  • Provides translation of mental health documents
  • Serves on multidisciplinary campus committees
