About The Position

This position is responsible for the mental health initiatives and educational outreach that are reflective of the collaborative well-being programs on the Auraria Campus. It involves clinical intervention, including direct client services and crisis management. The role also requires coordination between the Health Center at Auraria and tri-institutional entities such as counseling centers, CARE teams, case management, and other departments involved in mental health services on the Auraria Campus. Clinic hours are Monday – Friday 8 AM - 5 PM.

Requirements

  • A graduate-level psychological counseling-related degree
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical counseling experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and affability
  • Comfortable with public speaking
  • Ability to establish and effectively maintain working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Strong time management skills, self-directed and flexible
  • Must provide clear, concise and timely clinical documentation with EHR based on clinic expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Administer tri-institutional mental health programs for students, faculty, and staff on the Auraria Campus.
  • Collaborate on and oversee mental health initiatives, strategies, and activities.
  • Assess all mental health services at HCA and compile/analyze data.
  • Report as applicable and required.
  • Serve as an outreach liaison with the campus community, collaborating with various campus departments and student groups.
  • Participate in outreach programs, screening events, activities, tabling, and services to raise awareness and destigmatize mental health services and issues, and promote well-being through campus community engagement.
  • Provide clinical services, including nicotine cessation counseling.
  • Administratively manage and oversee the 24/7 crisis line service provider.
  • Provide consultative services to other campus departments regarding behavioral health issues, including staff training and academic presentations.
  • Debrief Health Center staff after a crisis and provide presentations on specific topics targeting certain populations as needed.
  • Develop CARE team collaboration strategies and support as requested.
  • Collaborate with other off-campus services and programs to develop community referral resources.
  • Develop clinical resources/handouts for clients and professional staff.
  • Assist Health Center behavioral health clinicians and medical providers by providing clinical services/assessments and support as assigned, utilizing appropriate clinical documentation and follow-up, adhering to all Health Center at Auraria medical and accreditation standards.
  • Serve as a case coordinator or manager as assigned, providing professional clinical services and coordination of care and/or determination for the most appropriate services.
  • Work in coordination with the Medical Director of Behavioral Health to provide oversight of mental health operations, requiring independent decision-making, staff guidance and direction, project assignments and special initiatives, operational logistics, public relations, and customer service.
  • Coordinate with marketing staff on publicity materials, educational resources, and editing/proofing of such materials.
  • Manage community relations with external contacts.
  • Oversee contract personnel in coordination with the Medical Director of Behavioral Health, Executive Director, and Associate Director of Operations and Well-Being Finances.
  • Participate in committees and task forces when assigned.
  • Stay current in knowledge of the latest developments/trends in mental health and health education, including evidence-based best practices and the use of validated assessment tools/strategies.
  • Manage and coordinate Auraria Campus mental health meetings with institutional partners.
  • Participate in a variety of meetings, planning sessions, professional development activities, and special projects.
  • Utilize technology to assist with achieving the goals associated with this position.
  • Adhere to Federal HIPAA/FERPA regulations and requirements, ensuring patient confidentiality.
  • Triage effectively.
  • Provide short-term care for acute stabilization of needs and appropriate referrals as needed.
