Mental Health Program Specialist
About The Position
This is a professional level direct service position with the clients (called members) of Sanctuary House as the primary recipients of services. The Program Specialist provides psychosocial rehabilitation services to adults with serious mental illness in our internationally accredited clubhouse model program. This position exists to assist Guilford County adults with serious mental illness to maximize their optimal level of functioning within the community and to prevent re-hospitalization in state facilities. Sanctuary House has been a cornerstone of mental health support in Greensboro, NC for over two decades. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field (strongly preferred).
- Experience working in mental health settings preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience and commitment to a recovery focused approach.
- Strong communication especially in the area of written documentation.
- Clinical advocacy and knowledge of community resources.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of mental health disorders and treatment modalities.
- Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to person-centered care.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and education.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in vocational rehabilitation or employment placement services a plus.
Responsibilities
- Provide psychosocial rehabilitation services to adults with serious mental illness in an internationally accredited clubhouse model program.
- Engage members in all aspects of clubhouse operation by helping them experience being needed in the performance of normal work ordered day activities necessary to run the program.
- Assist members in preparing for and maintaining transitional employment (TE) positions.
- Perform detailed service documentation.
- Provide service planning and delivery of services.
- Manage crisis situations.
- Maximize the optimal level of functioning within the community for Guilford County adults with serious mental illness.
- Prevent re-hospitalization in state facilities.
