About The Position

Join our team at the Office of Mental Health where we are dedicated to providing compassionate and accessible care to our community. We are seeking a Mental Health Professional I - Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT), who is motivated to help individuals and families navigate life's challenges and achieve long-term wellness. This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) – Office of Mental Health, Spartanburg Area Mental Health Center (SAMHC), 250 Dewey Ave., Spartanburg, SC 29303. Under direct supervision of the MDFT Supervisor, you will provide intensive in-home services to adolescents and their families who are at risk of out-of-home placement, to reduce the possibility of incarceration, therapeutic placement, or hospitalization. This is part of the MST / DJJ Rural Initiative Program.

Requirements

• A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences, or a related field.
• Evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care (documented as practicum or internship during graduate program, or post-graduate clinical experience).
• Specific clinical activities must be documented on the application and resume.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
• Extensive knowledge of methods, principles, and practices of clinical counseling and education services.
• Considerable knowledge of psychopathology and patient management as related to psychiatric issues.
• Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment following general written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to work in an outpatient office setting and conduct home visits to counsel with patients and families.
• Ability to drive a state vehicle.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with patients, families, and other agencies.
• Successfully complete the Basic Fundamentals course with a minimum grade of 75.
• Pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth assessment plans, treatment programs, and performs psychotherapy as well as crisis services to adolescents and their families who are at risk of disrupting their home placement or school placement, as part of the JIST Program.
• Employee must provide all services and documentation in compliance with SCDMH, CARF, SAMHC Quality Assurance, Transcultural and Productivity Standards, Policies and Procedures.
• Available on a 24/7 as-needed basis to clients and their families, as well as additional DJJ/MDFT staff.
• Adhere to all federal, state, and local Corporate Compliance laws.
• Coordinate with the MDFT Supervisor to develop intensive in-home intervention plans using the evidence informed model.
• Coordinate services with DJJ, DSS, Spartanburg County School Districts, and other community agencies as they relate caseload.
• Coordinate follow-up and/or step-down services for clients and their families as needed upon completion of the MDFT Program.
• Report to the MDFT chief on a minimum weekly basis to staff client cases and provide data for reporting outcomes.
