About The Position

This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Spartanburg Area Mental Health Center, 250 Dewey Ave, Spartanburg, SC 29303. Under limited supervision of Adult Services Director and Clinic Director, you will perform direct clinical services (individual, family, and group therapy) within an outpatient clinic setting. Increase collaborative efforts between SAMHC and community organizations involving all in the implementation process. Will assist in providing emergency coverage for walk in emergencies as week as intake for new patients, as needed. Provides services in a culturally sensitive manner.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social science, or related field.
  • Evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care (documented as practicum or internship during graduate program, or post-graduate clinical experience).
  • Successfully complete the Basic Fundamentals course with a minimum grade of 75.
  • Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.
  • Knowledge of normal and abnormal behavior adjustment techniques.
  • Knowledge of casework practices and interviewing techniques.
  • Knowledge of legal principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of investigate techniques, principles, and practices.
  • Knowledge of methods, principles and practices of clinical counseling and education services.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws or regulations pertaining to social service programs.
  • Ability to organize and maintain caseload.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in interpreting and applying established objectives.
  • Ability to effectively plan, coordinate, and manage complex treatment interventions.
  • Ability to conduct detailed investigation, draw conclusions, and recommend required actions.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensure is strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Assessment, Individual, Group, and Family therapy services, as well as intake and ongoing assessments to the designated population.
  • Develop, implements, monitors, and modifies treatment plans.
  • Provide Case Management and coordination with medical staff as needed to meet the treatment needs of the patients.
  • Monitor benchmarks regarding documentation and billing as stated by CMHC standards.
  • Maintain patient charts according to requirements of current Quality Assurance manual and assures high-quality services have been provided in a culturally sensitive manner to the patients.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local Corporate Compliance laws.
  • Attend and participate in required/mandated trainings, supervisory sessions, departmental staffings, interagency staffings, treatment team meetings, and other scheduled meetings as required by community partners and the Mental Health Center.
