About The Position

This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Catawba Community Mental Health Center (CCMHC), 1906 Hwy 521 By-Pass South, Lancater, SC 29720. Under the supervision of the Clinic Director, employee will provide therapeutic and emergency services to patients and their families in the Lancaster Clinic. Will also ensure frequent interaction with other community agencies and maintain positive professional relationships.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences and experience in a clinical counseling program.
  • Evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience may be documented as a practicum or internship during graduate program, or post-graduate experience.
  • Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.
  • Be able to operate a state vehicle.
  • Employee must qualify as a Mental Health Professional as defined by SCDBHDD / CCMHC QA Standards.
  • Must be licensed or eligible for full licensure within 3 years of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medically necessary clinical services, including but not limited to, assessment, individual, family and group therapy and crisis intervention services to a targeted population of adult clients and their families. Services may be provided in the clinic, in the client’s home, or other community setting.
  • Responsible for case management services for assigned caseload. These services include: referrals, advocacy, interagency staffings, and coordinating care between agencies/service providers as appropriate.
  • Formulate recovery based plans of care with person centered goals and objectives.
  • Conduct timely reviews and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
  • Attend and participate in Treatment Team meetings/staffings, including staffing with MD at CCMHC.
  • Pursue continuing education and training.
  • Maintain positive professional relationships with MHC staff, and community agencies, as well as, clients and their families.
  • Work to overcome the stigma of mental illness and mental health services by providing education, training and support services to the community at large.
