About The Position

This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Pee Dee Mental Health Center, 125 E. Cheves Street, Florence, SC 29506. Under general supervision, you will provide mental health services and necessary therapeutic interventions to adult individuals and their families receiving treatment at the Lake City Mental Health Center (LCMHC).

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.
  • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in SC.
  • If unlicensed, must be willing to work towards licensure in SC within six months of employment.
  • Have sound theoretical knowledge of principles, methods, counseling practices, and procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of behavioral and mental disorders.
  • Ability to listen and understand, and effectively communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
  • Have some knowledge of psychopathology and patient management within the psychiatric setting.
  • Have some knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other public and private agencies.
  • Have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, families and representatives of other professional disciplines.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of services to adult mental health patients and their families receiving treatment at the Lake City Mental Health Clinic.
  • Provide assessment and crisis management services to patients as needed or as directed to avoid decompensation/hospitalization.
  • Maintain medical records in compliance with BHDD-OMH, PDMHC, CARF and QA standards.
  • Adhere to all Corporate Compliance standard.
  • Collaborate with members of treatment team regarding Individual Plan of Care (IPOC) formulation for individual patients.
  • Provide case-consultation and education to the community as necessary.
  • Respond to the Lake City Hospital ER to see patients who present there in need of psychiatric stabilization and emergency placement.
  • Develop and maintain one or two therapy groups to meet in the clinic on a bi-weekly basis.
