We are seeking a Mental Health Professional I (Children Services) who is motivated to help individuals and families navigate life's challenges and achieve long-term wellness. This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Pee Dee Mental Health Center 125 E. Cheves Florence, S.C. 29506. Under general supervision you will provide mental health services and necessary therapeutic interventions to children and their families through the school-based Counseling Program. Services will include assessments, individual therapy, family, crisis, and group therapy.

Requirements

  • A Masters Degree in guidance and counseling, the social sciences or related field.
  • Have sound theoretical knowledge of principles, methods, counseling practices, and procedures for the diagnosis and treatment for behavioral and mental disorders.
  • Ability to listen and understand, and effectively communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
  • Have some knowledge of psychopathology and patient management within the psychiatric setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Crisis intervention /Management, Assessments, individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy in accordance with BHDD, HIPPA, QA, and Corporal Compliance.
  • Maintain a full schedule of a minimum of 5 patients per day, and ensure the delivery of services during times when school is not in session.
  • Attend and complete mandatory in-service trainings, workshops and meetings to develop and enhance skill and knowledge.
  • Complete all mandatory training which includes first Aide, CPR, and MAPS.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings, treatment team staffing's and provide knowledgeable input.
